August Hildebrandt celebrates its “Richtfest” at industrial park Schwerin
“Today we are celebrating a very special event -the “Richtfest” of our new steel drum manufacturing facility, here at the industrial park in Schwerin. The expansion of our steel drum production is a major milestone for our company and therefore an occasion for celebration.” With this address Mathias Lohraff inaugurated the “Richtfest” of the steel drum production.
The August Hildebrandt Group is a family company with a 155-year history. Currently the August Hildebrandt Group is expanding its production capacity for steel drums at the industrial park in Schwerin. The company is investing 10 million Euros for a 4.250 m² large manufacturing facility in a 30.000 m² plot of land till the end of 2024. At this site, steel drums of up to 8 m will be produced for the worldwide largest underground power connection SuedLink. SuedLink has a total length of 1.340 km. The German Corridor Projects, SuedLink and SuedostLink, are essential for the energy revolution. Up until 2030, 65% of the electricity consumption in Germany is to come from renewable energies. Up until 2050, 80% is to even be gained from renewable sources. Sabine von Köppen, CEO, emphasises that: “This means a long term and secure workload for our company.”
Hildebrandt chose ecologically sustainable concepts for the planning of the construction project. The future energy requirements will be completely covered by biomass, generated from our own production waste. Matthias Lohraff states: “By doing this, we are reducing our ecological footprint significantly.” A concise strategy for sustainability is a core element of the company strategy of August Hildebrandt Group.
